Ajin Demi Human

Gamon Sakurai had written and illustrated a series of manga called Ajin: Demi-Human and it was published on 7th March 2012. It was voted the third-best manga of 2013. The graphic novels were a huge success and sold millions of copies. Polygon Pictures even adapted it into a film series. The trilogy was released sometime between November 2015 and September 2016. But that’s not all, Polygon Pictures also created an anime series based on the manga and the first season was released between January and April of 2016. The second season soon followed in October. The anime was mainly based on the events of the movies. Fans have been waiting patiently for some news about season 3.

What is the story?

The story portrays a fantasy world where demi-humans called Ajins to exist. They were first discovered amongst the battlefields in Africa. Demi-Humans or Ajins gradually changed from being mankind’s greatest discovery to an existential threat. Governments around the world got apprehensive and started to hunt them down.
The show focuses on Kei Nagai, a high school student who could not care less about the problems with Ajins. He just wants a normal yet luxurious life as a doctor. Ironically, due to the survival of a traffic accident, witnesses label him as an Ajin. Kei must choose between humans and Ajins and fight for his survival. Hope comes in the form of an anarchist group, which wants Ajin to join them and wage a battle against humans. It is interesting to watch Kei struggle to choose. He was someone who didn’t want involvement with the conflict in the first place.
