An upcoming American superhero film Wonder Woman 1984 (styled as WW84) is based on the DC Comics character Wonder Woman. It is the sequel to Wonder Woman from 2017 which was the ninth installment of the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). The film was authorized by Patty Jenkins from a story she co-wrote with Geoff Jones and David Callaham, and an article by Johns and Jenkins. It will feature Gal Gadot as Diana Prince / Wonder Woman together with Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, Pedro Pascal, Robin Wright, and Connie Nielsen in benefiting roles. Set in the Cold War of 1984, this film will follow Diana as she faces Lord Maxwell and the cheetah.

In the United States and Canada, Wonder Woman 1984 from Warner Bros. Pictures is slated to hit the screen on December 25, 2020; It will also broadcast digitally on HBO Max in the US for a month from the same date. It will launch in international markets excluding HBO Max on a unified schedule from 16 December 2020.
It was originally announced for release on 13 December 2019 before being postponed to 1 November 2019. After which it was postponed to 5 June 2020. On 24 March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, theaters were closed indefinitely. The film has been postponed until August 14, 2020, with the release date of Malignant. As of June 2020, the release of the film was delayed to October 2, 2020, with a further delay before being postponed to the Christmas date.

In August 2018, Hans Zimmer was named the composer of Wonder Woman 1984, replacing Rupert Gregson-Williams, who made the first film. Zimmer previously starred in Man of Steel and Batman in Superman: Dawn of Justice, the first and second films in the DC Extended Universe and most recently also starring Wonder Woman. As a portion of the DC FanDome 2020, WaterTower Music broadcasted the initial track in the tally authorized “Themyscira”.
