Twin Peaks became a TV sensation. When it first aired in 1990. And became a major cult device in the years that follow abrupt and chaotic ending. The series, co-designed by Mark Frost and legendary cinematic surrealist David Lynch, wowed and fascinated generations of TV fans with its bizarre characters, unconventional humor, and their constant underwater fear.
Twin Peaks’ continued popularity led to a resurgence in 2017: the third of 18 episode season called Twin Peaks: The Return that aired on Showtime. A much darker and intentionally silly show than some fans had hoped, but The Return has been well received by critics and fans alike.
Will there be season 4?
Set in the fictional town of Twin Peaks, Washington, the series initially follows eccentric FBI agent Dale Cooper (Kyle McLachlan), who investigates the brutal murder of student Laura Palmer (Cheryl Lee). When the city’s dark secrets finally emerge, it is discovered that Laura’s death is somehow linked to a mysterious alternate dimension known as Black Lodge. Set years after the original series, Twin Peaks: The Return follows Cooper’s attempt to escape the box and stop his evil partner, Mr. C, from continuing to wreak havoc on the United States.
Of course, once the show returns for the first time, fans will wonder if it will keep coming back. Despite the unique vision and raw ending of Twin Peaks: The Return, many have wondered if a fourth season is planned. While in the press for a new film, Cryptozoo, which recently premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, original actress Grace Zabriskie assessed what she knew about a possible fourth season in an interview with IndieWire. Zabriski played Sarah Palmer, Laura’s grieving mother, in Twin Peaks.
In 1989, local woodcutter Pete Martel found a naked body wrapped in plastic by a river outside Twin Peaks, Washington. When Sheriff Harry S. Truman, his deputies, and Dr. When Hayward arrives, the corpse is identified as prom and queen Laura Palmer upon her return. A second girl who was seriously injured, Ronet Pulaski, was found fugue.
The matter is being investigated by Dale Cooper. An initial examination of Laura Cooper’s body found a small “R” under her fingernails. Cooper told the community that Laura’s death coincided with the signature of a killer who killed another girl in southwest Washington last year, and evidence suggests that the killer lived in Twin Peaks.
