Council of Dads

Council of Dads is an American drama television series. The series is the adaptation of the book Council of Dads written by Bruce Feiler. Joan Rater and Tony Phelan are the creators of the television series. Council of Dads premiered on March 24, 2020, on NBC as a part of the 2019-2020 television series program.

The series received mixed reviews from the critics and the viewers. It scored a rating of 50% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Scott Perry runs the local joint The Crab Shack. He discovers that he is suffering from cancer. The concern about the well being of his family and his children after he dies gets heavy on him. Also, he discovers that his wife is pregnant with their fifth child. He feels that his kids will go in an obverse way in the absence of his direction and guidance.

So, after he dies, his wife, Robin, gets concerned about her four children who would go astray, due to the lack of patriarchy in the family. So, she recruits three colleagues to form a council to guide and help her children in their lives. The story develops as these three men,  become the extended loving part of the family. The show did not receive the expected positive reviews. Instead, the reviews received are very average. 

Is the show canceled?

The Council of Dads is said to be NBC’s attempt to recreate ‘This is us’, which they could not do effectively. To everyone’s surprise, NBC announced the cancellation of its further seasons after the release of its final episode of the first season in June 2020.
