Production of the show

In October 2019, Apple TV+ commissioned the series, with Jason Sudeikis taking his place as Lasso. In 2013, Sudeikis originally premiered the titular character as part of NBC Sports commercials advocating their Premier League coverage, in which Lasso is portrayed as Tottenham Hotspur F.C’s new head coach.
