True Detective Season 4

We might have missed the guns, but can you really blame us after the show got back into shape in season 3? After scouring the internet for information, here’s everything we know about True Detective Season 4, from plot details and possible actors to whether this will happen at all and what the release date is.

IS TRUE DETECTIVE SEASON 4 CONFIRMED?

Not. HBO hasn’t officially resumed its show yet, and it’s unclear whether Pizzolatto is interested in returning to True Detective season 4. This is happening with Season 2 after all and no one wants to see him again. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Pizzolato explained exactly why he might not want to stick around for the fourth season, before immediately revealing that he already had the idea for the plot. Pizzolatto didn’t want to reveal what his idea was but thought about it for a moment before adding that he might want to try something different first.

WHEN IS THE RELEASE DATE FOR TRUE DETECTIVE SEASON 4?

Good question. The short answer is: we don’t know. The longer answer is that it all depends on how HBO and Pizzolatto decide on a fourth season, assuming that happens at all.
The first season of True Detective premiered in January 2014 and the second season 18 months later in June 2015. The series then took a big hiatus before returning to season three in January 2019. Hopefully, HBO has learned its lessons and won’t be rushing into season four, despite the positive feedback he’s received this season, we wouldn’t be surprised if it was a little faster than the difference between seasons 2 and 3. The True Detective Season 4 is likely to be released between 2020 and 2023.

WHAT IS SEASON 4 UPDATE FOR TRUE DETECTIVE?

Given that the show continues to surprise fans with new top talent every season, it’s hard to say who might lead Season 4. On the other hand, Pizzolatto seems to be hinting that he is also interested in reviving old characters.
