Higurashi When They Cry

A Japanese murder mystery dojin soft visual novel series ‘Higurashi when they cry’ is produced by 07th Expansion. The director of the series is Keiichiro Kawaguchi whereas Kenji Kawal serves as the music composer. It is a vedio game series.

The genre of the series comprises of Murder mystery, Supernatural Horror, and Psychological horror. It is a 2020 adaptation of the “Higurashi no Naku Koro ni” visual novel and an alternate version of the 2006 anime created by Studio Deen. The new project is animated by Passione began airing on October 1, 2020.

When will the series be released?

The series is scheduled to be released on October 1st, 2020. A total of 26 episodes will be there. On January 6th, 2020, the anime project was announced by 07th Expansion. The series was originally slated for release in July 2020 but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it delayed.

The Plotline of the series

In 1983, One hot summer day, Maebara Keiichi a transfer scholar comes to a delicate rural village in Hinamizawa. There he became friends with his classmates Rena, Rika, Mion, and Satoko.
Keiichi and the gang were accepted as a full-fledged member of the “club” as they play all sorts of activities to hide and seek. But just like Keiichi was starting to be comprehended in simple rural life, he staggers upon the dark history of Hinamizawa. As Keiichi lunges deeper into the dilemma, he discovers that his new found friends may not be all that they acknowledge to be.

Let’s have a look over the major characters of the series

• Keiichi Maebara: He was the protagonist and the son of a famous artist. His family recently moved to Hinamizawa. His charisma and remarkable talent allow him easily to make friends and become popular in the village.
• Rena Ryuuguu: Rena is a girl in the same grade level as Keiichi. She is the main female protagonist of the question arcs.
• Mion Sonozaki: In Keiichi’s class, Mion is the oldest student. Because she is elder, she is the class president and everyone looks up to her as the leader.
• Satoko Houjou: Satoko is a minor classmate in Keiichi’s school. She has a unique style of speech and is known for her pretentious laugh.
• Rika Furude: Rika is same grade level as Satoko. She is a youthful classmate in Keiichi’s school.
• Kuraudo Ooishi: He is a veteran police investigator, who vowed to solve the mystery of the Hinamizawa.

Funimation had released an official trailer of the series on July 3rd, 2020. The series will be made available to watch on Funimation and AnimeLab on October 1st, 2020.
