Hyundai Nexo

The Hyundai Nexo is a hydrogen fuel cell SUV that unveiled at the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show on January 8, 2018. NEXO will replace Hyundai Tucson FCEV and lead Hyundai’s eco-friendly vehicle portfolio. Hyundai Motor Company plans to bring up to 18 environmentally friendly vehicles to the global market by 2025.

The Nexo is a modern, five-seater, fuel cell electric vehicle that runs only on water. It is based on a lighter platform with better fuel cell placement than the Tucson FCEV. The total volume of the Nexo tank is 156.6 liters and can be filled in just 5 minutes.

The anticipated Price set for Hyundai Nexo in India is approx 65 lakh.

Exterior Design

The Nexo also has an exterior leading to the Kona. Thanks to individually adjustable horizontal daytime running lights on the bonnet and a cluster of lights next to the grille. Nexo is considered the embryo of the design that will be used in the new generation of Tucson.

Fuel

In a 2018 study, researchers at CSIRO Australia filled the Nexo with hydrogen extracted from ammonia using membrane technology.

Nexo Powertrain

It is powered by a 120 kW engine and develops 163 hp. and a torque of 395 Nm. The engine draws energy from the fuel cell and battery, with a total power of 135 kW.

Nexo Range

A typical fuel cell in modern electric vehicles uses hydrogen fuel cells to drive electric motors. During the WLTP test cycle in Europe, it has a range of over 600 km. According to Hyundai, Nexo can deliver over 1,000 km to India.

It costs almost $ 58,900 (INR 40) in the US, mainly due to the hydrogen engine. If this hydrogen engine is introduced here in India, it will certainly not be for sale as there are no electric vehicles sold in India, that alone used hydrogen cars. They can sell to Indian buyers by offering the gasoline engine itself, not hydrogen.
