The famous OTT, Netflix, is focusing on bringing international entertainment for the audience. ‘Into the Night’ is a Belgian sci-fi drama thriller web series. Jason George is the creator of the series. The show is the adoption of a thriller novel The Old Axolotl, written by Jacek Dukaj. The series released on Netflix, on May 1, 2020. ‘Into the Night’ is the first Belgian Netflix original series. The season received positive remarks from the critics. ‘Into the Night’ scored 86% positive remarks on Rotten Tomatoes.
About the Show:
The plot revolves around the post-apocalyptic scenario of the Earth. The Sunrays become activated due to some mutations and kill anyone exposed to the sun. This phenomenon kills almost everyone, leaving a few survivors.
A group of NATO soldiers, hijack a flight, taking off from Brussels. The flight ‘red-eye flight’ is carrying a few survivors of the catastrophe. Terenzio, an ex-NATO soldier, is the leader of the hijackers. He gets into the cockpit and demands the pilot to take-off before the schedule.
He asks the pilot to draft the plane west-wards, so the deadly rays of the sun do not reach them. The pilot has to fly the plane, avoiding the sun rays, as the rays will immediately kill everyone on the exposure. Mathieu, the pilot, and Sylvie, a passenger form an alliance as they face the issues of lack of fuel, no food, and also to discover the plan of the hijackers, while they are planning to reach a military underground bunker.
Is the series renewed?
Netflix recently gave the green signal to the release of the second installment of the series. Netflix also released a small teaser of the second season, which is gathering quite a hype. Jason, who is also known for creating Narcos said that he is quite excited to release the news of the renewal of the second season. Although, there has been no announcement on the release of the date. But we can expect it to be out sometime in 2020 itself.
