At the 2020 Auto Expo Mahindra presented the XUV300 Sportz edition.
Initially, you can confuse the XUV300 Sportz with a certain number of postmarket decals for the XUV300 standard. However, the SUV offers far more than just a few other stickers and coloured brake callipers. The XUV300 is powered by another engine which delivers more power and torque than the standard version.
The new 1,2litre GDI engine is turbocharged in Mahindra and has a maximum torque of 130 hp & 230 Nm. It is 20 hp and 30 Nm higher than the BS6 compatible turbo petrol engine currently in use with the XUV300 standard. The new T-GDI will be connected with a 6-speed MT after start-up, but an AT option may be obtained at some point in time. The XUV300 Sportz is the most powerful petrol SUV in the segment after launch. It will actually be even greater than the EcoSport, which uses a 1.5-litre engine to dispense 123hp. It is also speculated that Ford will use the new 1.2-litre TGDI engine to replace its EcoBoost 1-liter engine, which has currently been discontinued.
Mahindra added a few model-specific amendments on the inside of the cabin apart from the decals on the sides. This includes an all-black cabin treatment with red dashboard and seating highlights (stitching). While the other design elements are relatively loud, typically Mahindra, it is necessary to appreciate the power available. The XUV300 is already one of the most functionally heavy offered in the segment and will become an enviable package with the additional power supply. Please note, it’s one of the safest Indian cars too.
Mahindra XUV300 Sportz Edition: PriceĀ
The additions, however, will not come at an extra cost. The XUV300 Sportz is likely to be the most expensive compact SUV sub 4 metres in length. EcoSport, Venue Turbo, Sonet Turbo, Nexon are the major competitors of the XUV300 Sportz. Another XUV300 update relates to the launch of the electric version of the SUV by Mahindra. At the 2020 Auto Expo, it had also been displayed. In the second half of 2021, the launch is expected to take place. When it is launched, it will compete with Nexon electric mostly.
Mahindra XUV300 Sportz Edition: Launch Date
At the time Mahindra exhibited the more powerful XUV300 variant, the launch was revealed in April 2020. However, plans were derailed due to the pandemic and national lockdown. Mahindra is yet to disclose the XUV300 Turbo start-up, but the launch of the XUV300 Sportz variant for this year can not be confirmed in a recent discussion with Mahindra customers. It will probably be postponed until 2021. The new Mahindra Thar and the TUV300 will be launched this year.
