Onmyou Hyakki Monogatari

A deeper look at the plotline of the series.

In a time of the coexistence of demons and humans, a search for power, strength, and supremacy has been launched by bad forces from the underworld. The balance is now in grave danger between the two different worlds.

Thankfully, there’s a group of talented individuals who can learn the stars and draw amulets. They have the power to bind the two around each other, even to sedate the spirits. To keep harmony and order between the different extremes, they are willing to place it all on the line. They’re referred to as Onmyouji.

Onmyou Hyakki Monogatari or several demon stories of Yin and Yang are premised on the Onmyouji fictional role-playing game. To commemorate the game’s third anniversary, the Chinese game developer, NetEase, announced an anime adaptation. The game for iOS and Android was launched in 2016 by NetEase, and it has been downloaded more than 250 million times globally. This is not the first of its kind where a game franchise acquired an anime adaptation. There is plenty of anime series that are derived from games such as I-CHU Etoile Stage and A!3: Season Autumn and Winter. An internet anime called Onmyouji: Heian Monogatari, a short series comprising twelve episodes, was also based on the game released in 2018.
