Queen of the South Season 5
Queen of South, is an American crime television series. It premiered on June 23, 2016, on USA Network. The Queen of South series is an adaption of another television series La Reina del Sur, which airs on network ‘Telemundo’. M.A. Fortin and Joshua John Miller are the creators of the series. The series received a mix reviews with 68% of approval ratings on Rotten Tomatoes. The production of the fifth season had to shut down because of the COVID-19 pandemic hit worldwide. In India, viewers can stream the show on Netflix.
Queen of the South Season 5 Plot:
The story of Queen of South revolves around the ambitious, protagonist named Teresa. On the opening scene, we see that she gets assassinated by a single gun blow. The story runs in flashback from here, showing, how she got there in the first place. The Queen of South narrates the story of Teresa Mendoza. She runs from Mexico after her boyfriend gets killed. She runs and seeks refuge in America. Here, she later associates herself with people from her past. Closely working with them, she helps them to take down the leader of the drug cartel, who killed her boyfriends.
To take the cartel down, she has to work under the same cartel. She can only trust a mysterious notebook she found and her friend. The series received mixed reviews from the critics but indeed is action-packed.
Season 5 Updates:
Season 5 was supposed to hit the screens in 2020. Season 5 will return with Alice Braga as Teresa Mendoza and Peter Gadiot as James Valdez. But, the production had to completely halt due to the COVID-19 pandemic. According to some sources, the series will come out in July 2020, while others are saying that COVID has halted the production.
The chances of the fifth season to release this year looks bleak. We can expect the series to come out somewhere in 2021.
