The superhero series of “Raising Dion” is based on a comic book and a short film as well. The show made its debut on 4th October 2020. Carol Barbee is responsible for creating this American Superhero science fiction family drama. We have only one season till now with a total of nine episodes. Each episode stretches for about 38minutes to an hour. The team of producers includes Robert F. Phillips, Edward Ricourt, and Juanita Diana Feeney. The show has met with favorable reviews and it has an approval rating of 82%on Rotten Tomatoes. The series tries to bring together aspects of family drama and superhero ambitions. It might not be entirely successful on that front, but the amazing performances by the cast more than make up for it. There is a sense of wonder to that drama and it has the potential to be something great with a bit of more patience.
What is the story about?
This show is based on a comic book by Dennis Liu. It features a seven-year-old boy. This child happens to have gotten powers from his father. Some of those inherited advantages include telekinesis, teleportation, and even the ability to heal injuries. The child is named Dion and he is raised by his mother Nicole. His father, Mark had died, so the responsibility of the child falls entirely on the shoulders of the mother. But raising Dion is not a simple task, certainly not a normal one. The usual difficulties of raising a child are greater when it comes to Dion, given his superpowers. His mother decides that it would be safer if Dion’s powers are kept a secret from society. She does this with her husband’s best friend Mark. This turns out to be a necessary step to prevent exploitation.
What about the second season?
There will definitely be another season. Netflix has confirmed it. Creator Carol Barbee will be involved with the second installment too. This show is immensely popular and it is no surprise that Netflix has decided to bring it back. But we don’t have an official release date yet.
