Shonda Rhimes has created an American series called Scandal, which had made its debut on 5th April 2012. The last episode of the seventh season was released on 19th Aril 2018. The series only has seven seasons which consist of 124 episodes in total. Every episode of this political thriller stretches for about 43 minutes. The team of executive producers includes Shonda Rhimes along with Betsy Beers, Mark Wilding, Tom Verica, and Mark Fish. The character of Olivia Pope in the show is slightly based on Judy Smith. She was the press aide of the Bush administration. This series is based on a firm called Olivia Pope and Associates (OPA), which is a crisis management firm. The political drama takes place in Washington D.C, focusing on the staff of the White House and related political scenes.

The show has a score of 64 out of 100 in Metacritic and it has generally favorable reviews. Alan Sepinwall was confused about how the firm called Olivia Pope and Associates (OPA) operates and what it does. But he also admits that the show works regardless of that fact. The show received praise during the airing of the second season. Some critics have even compared it to the House of Cards.

Will there be a season 8?

There is bad news for Scandal fans. The creator Shonda Rhimes has already stated that there will be no further seasons of “Scandal”. She has already done what she can with this epic story. Olivia Pope’s horribly messy life has finally reached a conclusion on screen. Her confusing relationships, her tensions with her parents, and the innumerable twists and turns have always entertained the fans. The creator of the series has admitted that even though it was a difficult decision to make, she was sure that it was the correct time to end Olivia’s story.
