Spoilers of The Seven Deadly Sins Season 5 Episode 8:

In Episode 7, Diane is stunned by the King’s new form and wonders if he is still the King she knows. He reads her mind and assures her it is. Mael, obsessed with the Four Commandments, threw down a sparkling jewel of love that King could easily contradict with True Form Eight: Pollen Garden. Their struggle did not last long. Despite the combined corruption of the four commandments, Mael was unable to treat the fairy king in his original form. But King did not kill the archangel, firmly stating that taking revenge would only increase hatred.
When the power of the command began to split Mael’s body, Gouter grabbed Mael and asked him to come back. In response, Mael asked Gouter why he (Gouter) chose him to match Meliodas when there was another goddess who could also serve that purpose. Gouter reveals to Mael that his creator, Witch Gautier, chose Mael for this task because he previously killed a demon named Gloria, who was Witch Gautier’s lover. Finally, Gouter’s words reached Mael and he returned to the human world.
Although Mael is no longer interested in participating in the war between the Goddess and the Devil, Elizabeth and Gouter ask him to accompany them to Camelot and help them end the holy war. At Camelot, Cusack and Chandler combine to become real demons. In Purgatory, Meliodas, Ban, and Wild face the Demon King on their own. In Episode 8, King, Elizabeth, and the others arrive to help Escanor and Merlin fight the real demons. Meliodas was able to fight his father with the help of Ban and Wilde.
