Social Distancing Season 1

All that you need to know about this Netflix show!

Social Distance is an American Netflix anthology series produced by Hilary Weisman Graham and Orange Is the New Black creator Jenji Kohan in 2020, which is scheduled to premiere on October 15, 2020.

The series was ‘entirely remotely conceived, cast and executed during the quarantine.’ The eight-part series, set during the first months of the COVID-19 pandemic, focuses on how the effects of quarantine were handled by families, friends, and couples. Each episode tells a different story and demonstrates “in the face of uncertainty and isolation, the power of the human spirit,” and how technology was used to remain connected during the quarantine.

The statement continues, “The social distancing experience is presently universal, but no individual story is the same.” We hope to capture a moment in time via a wide spectrum of tales and moments, some seismic, and some mundane. And we hope that it will help people feel closer to each other through social distance.

By creating and manufacturing virtually so that cast and crew can remain healthy and safe, the group challenged itself to do something new. During the writing process, the writers never meet, Velasco directs talent remotely, Weisman Graham manages production from her living room, and the cast acts and films themselves from home.
