Suicide Squad was one of the most awaited movies produced by DCEU. There are numerous reasons behind the desperate wait behind its premier. Firstly, DC tried to do something different with the plot of the movie, with casting almost all the dangerous villains in a single movie. Second, DC came up with Joker after a very long time. Third, how many times do we see the villains getting together to save the world?
David Ayer is the writer and the director of the Suicide Squad.
Suicide Squad released on August 5, 2016, in RealD 3D, IMAX, and IMAX 3D.
The movie grossed over $746 million worldwide. The movie is also the recipient of Oscar for Best Best Makeup and Hairstyling at the 89th Academy Awards.
It is the first movie from DCEU to receive an Academy Award.
Plot:
Suicide Squad is a team of villains, apprehended by Batman and sent to a place that no one knows about.
Intelligence officer Amanda Walter, after the death of Superman, plans of forming a team of these criminals to fight off if any meta-human tries to invade the Earth. She forms this team by the name of Task Force X.
One of the teammates of Walter, Dr. June Moore is possessed of ancient power, controlled by Walter.
Joker, on the other hand, finds that Harley is at the same prison, where other major villains are kept. He plans to break into the prison and free Harley Quinn.
The story takes a turn when Moore turns into Enchantress and Walter fails to control Moore’s powers.
In turn, Enchantress takes on to destroy the world to establish a new world order.
Now, these bunch of villains has to save the world from the grasp of the Enchantress.
Suicide Squad, What About the Sequel?
Jame Gunn’s Suicide Squad is all set to release in 2021. Although, rumors are that in the sequel we may not see Will Smith as Deadshot.
However, it is not sure whether we will see him or not.
However, the sequel is under development as we talk about it.
