Kal Penn and Matt Murray have created the American comedy show called Sunnyside. The show made its debut on 26th September 2019. Sunnyside was broadcasted on NBC and it was produced by Panther Co., 3 Arts Entertainment, and Fremulon. Universal Television is also involved with the show. The showrunners are Penn and Murray. We only have one season of the show till now with a total of 11 episodes. Each episode has a runtime of about 25 minutes. The show has had mixed reviews with some viewers thinking that there was definitely something missing in the show. The advantage of Sunnyside is that has the correct subject matter ad an amazing cast to support it on Metacritics the show has a score of 58 out of 100.
Will there be another season?
Unfortunately, the answer is no. The network has canceled Kal Penn’s comedy show for good. Sunnyside had managed to get 1.77 million viewers in total and had achieved a 0.4 rating. It was one of the most failed shows of the network. No wonder the network decided to nip it in the bud. Another show of the network called Will and Grace had almost double the ratings of Sunnyside. After the cancellation was announced, Kal Penn went ahead and made a statement on twitter. He said that the show had funny and heartwarming ten episodes that the viewers would enjoy. Penn had also proclaimed that Sunnyside was one of the most diverse shows that Hollywood had seen. He had also asked for any “takers” saying that the show had boasted an amazing cast and great writers.
There’s no telling on what the future will bring. But as for now, there will be no continuation of Sunnyside unless a streaming service picks it up.
