Peter Morgan has created a drama series called “The Crown” which is primarily centered on the monarchy, especially the reign of Queen Elizabeth II. Sony Pictures Television and Left Bank Pictures have jointly produced this drama series. The Crown has premiered on Netflix. This show is inspired by the film by Morgan called “The Queen” which was released in 2006. It also is influenced by a stage play named “The Audience”. We have 3 seasons till now with a total of 30 episodes. Each episode stretches for about an hour.

The first season focuses on the time period of 1947 to 1955. In that period, Queen Elizabeth got married to Philip, who was the Duke of Edinburgh. Princess Margaret’s engagement to Peter Townsend also disintegrated during that period. The second Season spans across 1956 to 1964. The second season features the Suez Crisis and Prince Edward’s birth. The Prime Minister of that time, Harold Macmillian also got retired in 1963. The third season is about the time span between 1964 and 1977. This season covers the introduction of Camilla Shand as well as both the periods of Harold Wilson as Prime Minister. This series is very popular and the creators will absolutely continue with the storyline. It is known that the show will not only have a fourth season but also a fifth and sixth one. The sixth installment might just be the final one. Since the show covers so much of history, different actors are cast for the portrayal of the Queen.
