For another round of six, 30-minute episodes focused on sex, intimacy, and female empowerment, ‘The Goop Lab’ will come back on screen. Development on the second season has yet to commence, and a release date has not been set yet. Paltrow returns, alongside Goop Chief Content Officer Elise Loehnen and Shauna Minoprio, one of several hosts of the series, and an executive producer. The show is a co-production of Boardwalk Pictures, which has been affiliated as executive producers with Andrew Fried and Dane Lillegard.
From female bodies to psychedelics to energy healing, The Goop Lab Season 1 talked about them all and adapted them as shorts, led by a variety of doctors, practitioners of alternative medicine, and Goop staff. The show was perplexing and criticized for peddling pseudoscience, much like anything Paltrow does in the arena of lifestyle and wellness. Paltrow took it in stride in February and attributed the controversy to the culture of clickbait. She said that she is not quite familiar with the projection of the show but she is not ready to change the conversation just to please people.
“One way or the other.” Goop has grown exponentially from its original form, an email newsletter offering beauty and travel tips conceived by Paltrow in a kitchen in London, which is currently valued at $250 million. Goop currently has an extensive podcast business, full fashion, cosmetics, and home products retail ranges, and (pre-COVID) an international live event business that has gathered Goop followers from around the world.
