The Midnight Sky: George Clooney On His Apocalyptic Sci-Fi
In 2020, every Earthbound disaster film has a new reaction, a year that has been more than just an apocalyptic one, with more pressing climate change warnings, an upcoming presidential election, and the slightest issue of a global pandemic. Briefly, this is the perfect year for The Midnight Sky of George Clooney.
Clooney’s film, which is both in front and behind a camera shot, is a film of astronauts who return to earth at the close of their mission, led by Felicidad Jones’ Sully. With the exception of a mass extinction event, Clooney’s surviving Earth-based astronomer Augustine disappeared and he tried to warn them that he was coming back to a house that had been too far away. In his November question addressed to Empire – which is now on sale – Clooney opened up a new catastrophe drama by 2020 and showed how it felt seamlessly important prior to the Covid-19 pandemic.
This is the line of Cassius: ‘The fault, Brutus dear, is not in the stars, it’s in us.” That’s the idea that we are causing these problems. And that we can fix them. We can fix them. The world naturally blew with this virus after the shooting ended and the edit started. To be honest, it is still man-made in some ways, even if it doesn’t.
