Vikings is an old drama television series produced by Michael Hearst and produced for the History Channel. The show was filmed in Ireland and premiered in Canada on March 3, 2013. The series is slated to end on December 30, 2020, when the second half of season six will be broadcast in full on Prime Video in Ireland before premiering on History in Canada. A series called Vikings: Valhalla continues and is produced for Netflix.

Vikings were influenced by the story of the Viking Ragnar Lotbrock, one of the most famous mythical heroes of the north, known as the scourge of England and France. The display shows Ragnar as a farmer rising from the dead as a result of a successful raid in England and eventually becoming king of Scandinavia with the help of his family and fellow soldiers. In subsequent seasons, the series follows the fate of the sons and their travels in England, Scandinavia and the Mediterranean.

The Viking Plot

The series is influenced by Scandinavian legends from early medieval Scandinavia. This is usually followed by the adventures of the mythical Viking leader Ragnar Lotbrock and his crew, family and heirs, as noted in the legends of the Ragnar Lordbrókar and Ragnarssona þáttr saga from the 13th century, as well as in the 12th century Saxo work Grammaticus Gesta Danorum. Scandinavian mythical tales are based in part on stories based on the oral heritage of the Scandinavian people and published some 200 to 400 years after the events they mention.
Further inspiration comes from historical references from this period, such as the Viking attack on Lindisfarne, recorded in the second episode, or the tenth-century Varyagi tale by Ahmad ibn Fadlan. The series begins in the early Viking Age, highlighted by the 793 attacks on Lindisfarne.

Actors from season 6 of the Vikings

• Catherine Winnick as Lagertha
• Jordan Patrick Smith as Ube
• Alexander Ludwig as King Björn
