Zombie Land Saga is a Japanese comedy and horror anime series. Munehisa Sakai is the director of the show. The series released on October 4, 2018, on AT-X, Tokyo MX, Sun TV, BS11, Saga TV, and TVQ. It is one of the few anime series which is not an adaption of any manga. Instead, a manga drew inspiration from the story of the show.
The first season of the show received critical acclaims from fans all around the world. Zombie Land Saga managed to gather a loyal fanbase of the show. Looking at the success of the show, the creators decided to adapt the story of the show for a stage play. However, the play got canceled due to the COVID-19 Pandemic situation in Japan.
Zombie Land Plot:
Sakura Minamoto is the lead of the story. She is a high school girl who aspires to become an idol. She dies in an accident while she was going out to submit her application for becoming an idol. Kotaro Tatsumi is a science maniac, who aims at bringing back the dead to life once again. He brings back Sakura and six other girls to life as zombies. Kotaro does this to revitalize Saga Prefecture. He wants to put together all the zombies to form a zombie idol group, called Franchouchou.
Apart from this, Kotaro is a skillful makeup artist too. He can make zombies look like alive people. Later, Sakura finds out that Kotaro was his classmate in the school. He wants to fulfill the dreams of Sakura and six other girls.
Zombie Land Season 2 Update:
Zombie Land undoubtedly follows a very interesting and gripping storyline. The viewers loved the first season. The pilot season of the show commenced in December 2018. Looking at the fanbase the show managed to maintain over the time, the creators decided to renew the show. Yes, the show will be coming back for the second season.
However, the initial date of the release was sometime in 2020. But, since the pandemic hit the world, the chances of the release this year look bleak. We can expect the second season to come out either by the end of this year or in early 2021. This is not yet official. Though, we will have to wait for the official announcement of the release date.
